I ONLY RETURNED TO THE PDP TO RECONCILE AND RECONNECT WITH MY FRIENDS, TO HAVE PEACE — CHIDI LLOYD

Chidi Lloyd Has Made Us Proud— Emolga PDP Caucus Leader, Paul Wonodi

I’m Happy To See Our Council Headquarters Wearing A New Look— V.C IAUE, Prof. Onuchukwu

As the unprecedented infrastructure revolution witnessed across Emohua Local Government Area continues to earn him commendations from notable leaders in the LGA and beyond, the chairman of Emohua LGA, Dr. Chidi Lloyd, has restated that he had no intention to seek elective office when he returned to the People’s Democratic Party (PDP) in 2020.

He said he only returned to the party to reconcile and reconnect with his friends and allies in his original political party, where he was a founding member, and to be at peace with himself.

Upon his return to the party, according to the council chairman, the party leadership called him to take up the responsibility of leading the Local Government Council; a proposal he earlier declined but later accepted after several persuasions by critical stakeholders in the LGA.

Speaking at the two separate ceremonies marking the commissioning of the Emohua council warehouse and the council independent power plant project undertaken by his administration on Tuesday, Dr. Lloyd said he is happy that he never disappointed the leaders who believed in him and entrusted the council to him, amid other very qualified individuals within the party at the time.

He attributed the achievements of his administration to the support and cooperation of the leaders of the LGA and members of the legislative assembly, as well as the management committee of the local government council.

He, however, noted that toes may have been stepped on in the process of righting the wrongs in the local government council to enable it to compete favorably with others in the community of LGAs in Nigeria, but maintained that all actions of his administration were aimed at putting things right in the council to change the narrative about the area.

The council chairman noted insecurity as one of the major challenges of Emohua LGA when he assumed office in 2021 but thanked God for the prevalent peace and security in the area, which he said has changed the negative narrative about the area.

He commended the security agencies and the local vigilantes for their tireless efforts toward sustaining prevalent peace and security in the area.

Apart from housing the properties of the local government council, Dr. Lloyd said the local government council warehouse was also conceptualized to generate revenue for the council, as it will be open to manufacturers and individuals who want to store their goods.

Dr. Lloyd noted that his administration was building for the future; hence, it embarked on the council independent power plant, a 660 KVA caterpillar generator project, stressing that the plant could power the entire council secretariat complex and other government establishments around it, such as the Emohua high court complex being constructed by his administration.

The leader of the PDP caucus, Eze Paul Wokhe Wonodi, who performed the inauguration of the council warehouse, said, the leadership of the party in the LGA was very proud and happy with the achievements of Dr. Chidi Lloyd during his first term in office.

Paul Wonodi, who was also the caretaker committee chairman of Emohua LGA, thanked Dr. Lloyd for not disappointing the leadership of the PDP, which found him worthy of overseeing the affairs of the local government council, following his track record of performance while he served in the State Assembly.

He noted that the council chairman had, within a very short time, changed the narrative about Emohua LGA, reassuring him of the support and cooperation of leaders and stakeholders in the area.

In his remarks, the vice chancellor of Ignatius Ajuru University of Education, Prof. Okey Onuchukwu, who commissioned the council’s independent power plant, lauded the council chairman’s developmental strides across the LGA, and particularly commended Dr. Lloyd for the total transformation of the Emohua Local Government council secretariat complex, as recommended by the chairman’s campaign blueprint committee, which he chaired.

I’m happy to see our council headquarters wearing a new look entirely, says Prof. Onuchukwu, as he urges Dr. Lloyd to remain focused and not be distracted by armchair criticisms, especially those coming from misguided youths on social media, stressing that the majority of the people are not unaware of the council chairman’s achievements within his first term in office.

Commenting on the importance of an independent power supply to the local government council secretariat complex, Prof. Onuchukwu noted that facilities like the ICT center, which was conceptualized as part of the transformation at the council headquarters, needed an improved power supply to function optimally.

He also noted that the power plant can efficiently serve the council headquarters beyond the administration of Dr. Chidi Lloyd, stressing that the initiative can be likened to building for the future.

The events were attended by political leaders, traditional rulers, stakeholders, and staff of Emohua Local Government Council.
